On-Camera Meteorologist

  • Dr. Erika Navarro
Dr. Erika Navarro is an on-camera meteorologist for The Weather Channel, who recently joined the network from the University of Washington where she received her M.S. and Ph.D in Atmospheric Sciences.
Her Ph.D. thesis focused on hurricanes, and how changes that take place during the daylight and evening hours affect their overall intensity.
Originally raised in Piscataway, NJ Dr. Navarro began her weather journey at Wellesley College where she studied physics and Spanish. Throughout her graduate education, Dr. Navarro served as an intern at The Weather Channel where she supported the expert team throughout the 2013 and 2014 hurricane seasons.
Her passion for weather began when she was 12 years old after Hurricane Floyd (1999) left significant impacts on her hometown. When not on camera, Dr. Navarro is spending time reading, enjoying the company of family and friends or being outside. She loves coffee (especially in the french press) and discovering new ways to enjoy clean eating. She also loves playing sports, but after multiple knee injuries now enjoys climbing, cycling or yoga.
