Chief Operating Officer
As chief operating officer at The Weather Channel television network, Freddy Flaxman leads the long-term strategic planning for the network to ensure resources are maximized and network goals are achieved across multiple business units. In his three-year tenure, Flaxman’s scope of responsibilities has rapidly expanded to also include oversight of The Weather Channel’s broadcast production and operations, digital properties, The Weather Channel Radio Group and Weatherscan television network.
Most recently, Flaxman led the planning and execution of The Weather Channel’s first over-the-top offering Local Now, which delivers real-time, hyper-local weather, traffic, news, and sports reports. He was also integral to The Weather Channel’s recent network re-launch and in shaping The Weather Channel’s newest anchor morning show AMHQ into America’s morning destination. Prior to his current role, Flaxman was responsible for various company-wide initiatives across Television, Digital, Professional Services and International Divisions.
Before joining The Weather Channel, Flaxman served as a member the News and Multimedia Strategy team at Bloomberg LP where he worked in collaboration with key executive leaders on various business development initiatives. He began his career at McKinsey & Co., where he consulted for a number of media companies in the firm’s Media and Entertainment practice. Flaxman was recently appointed to the 2015 Forbes 30 Under 30: Media list. He graduated with honors from Princeton University and is an active alum of Harvard Business School where he earned his MBA in 2012.
