Programming Theme Week Includes Photo Contest and Fall Foliage Report
ATLANTA (October 9, 2009) - The Weather Channel® (TWC) announces a partnership with premier tire manufacturer Michelin for the network's seasonal programming block, "Why I Love Fall." TWC has dedicated the week of Oct. 12-18 to showcase the wonders of autumn on air and online.
Michelin-sponsored vignettes will be related to fall outdoor activities and also will appear throughout TWC's regularly scheduled and programming including "Your Weather Today," "Weekend View," "Weather Center" as well as customized Local on the 8s. Special programs airing include features on the season's prime outdoor sports from sailing and skydiving to rock climbing and windsurfing.
Highlighting "Why I Love Fall" week, TWC meteorologist Jim Cantore gives his fall foliage report, where he travels to ideal locations displaying the season's vibrant colors and provides viewers with travel routes and tips on where they can discover their own foliage adventure. In addition, www.weather.com/fallfoliage will have updates on peak times with state and regional maps.
To help promote the themed week, TWC is also currently running a "Capture the Fall" photograph contest through Dec. 15. Contestants can enter at www.weather.com/photos for a chance to win a grand prize of $2,500. All winning photos will be featured on weather.com and on The Weather Channel network.
