Piper Walker Joins The Weather Channel As Vice President, Inside Sales

The Weather Channel Companies(TWCC) today announced that Piper Walker has been named vice president, inside sales. In this role, Walker will be responsible for building, leading, training and managing a high-performing inside sales team with a primary focus on new business development in small and medium-sized businesses across the North America region. She will be based in Atlanta and will report to Sheila Buckley, senior vice president, digital ad sales, TWCC, who is based in New York.

"As we further build and strengthen our ad sales leadership team, Piper will play a key role in ensuring we have the strongest sales force in the industry," said Buckley. "Piper brings a wealth of experience training and managing sales teams as well as many years in inside sales, making her the perfect fit for the role."

Prior to joining The Weather Channel, Walker spent five years as general sales manager at SuperMedia (formerly Idearc Media), which provides advertising solutions for small to medium-sized businesses with offerings such as SuperpagesDirect direct mail products; Yellow and White Pages for 32 states and the District of Columbia; and a variety of owned and operated sites such as Superpages.com, Switchboard.com, Localsearch.com and EveryCarListed.com. While there, she led the number one sales division in the nation, directing and supporting 277 sales representatives and management employees.

Walker joined SuperMedia after spending 10 years at Verizon Information Services, serving for six years as training manager and four years prior as national sales trainer. Before joining Verizon, Walker spent six years at GTE Directories. She joined as an outside sales representative and went on to the role of decision support systems analyst.

Walker is a member of the American Society of Training & Development. She received a bachelor's degree in communications from North Texas University.
