Network Orders Season Two of Docu-Series...Which Isn't All Fun in the Sun
The Weather Channel Companies(TWCC) announced today that it has ordered a second season of "Lifeguard!," produced by LMNO Productions. The series follows the men and women who guard the treacherous and varied terrain of 150 miles of California coastline.
"Life may look like a beach for lifeguards, but it certainly isn't always fun in the sun," Michael Dingley, senior vice president of content and development for The Weather Channel Companies. "'Lifeguard!' takes viewers to the front line of the dangers people face on the shore and in the water, and showcases the heroic efforts of the brave men and women who come to their rescue on a daily basis."
Southern California is home to one of the most famous coastlines in the world. From Malibu to San Diego lie some of the busiest, most popular beaches in America, and "Lifeguard!" offers an up close and personal view from the lifeguards themselves - the bravest, best-trained lifeguards in the world, who make more than 10,000 saves a year.
The second season of "Lifeguard!" features 13x 30-minute episodes and will premiere January 2013. The series first premiered on The Weather Channel in February 2012. The first season also consisted of 13x 30-minute episodes.
"Lifeguard!" is part of The Weather Channel's growing stable of long-form original content, which also includes "Coast Guard Alaska," "Iron Men," "Ice Pilots," "Hurricane Hunters," and upcoming series "Coast Guard Florida" (October 2012), as well as the docu-series anthology Braving the Elements, featuring "Turbine Cowboys," "Pyros" "Lights Out" (August 14), "Iceberg Hunters" (September 18) and "Reefmakers" (October 2012).
