New Cross-Platform Outdoor Home Improvement Campaign Kicks Off Retailer's Busiest Shopping Season
"Lawn & Garden Outlook" will leverage The Weather Channel's customization capabilities to provide hyper-localized lawn & garden projects, gardening tips and advice developed specifically for the user's location - on television, online and on mobile.
The partnership marries The Home Depot's gardening expertise with The Weather Channel's trusted local weather knowledge. On all three platforms, The Weather Channel will give consumers insight into what to plant in their area and when, specifically targeted to their region. On television, it will also include a detailed national forecast that delivers information such as high/low temperatures, possibility of rain, and other weather factors, which informs consumers as they make their weekend gardening and home improvement plans.
The "Lawn & Garden Outlook" campaign premieres March 24 and expands The Weather Channel and The Home Depot's longstanding partnership, which currently includes "Project of the Week." The Home Depot will also sponsor weather.com's Lawn & Garden section, aligning their creative messaging with lawn and garden products, tips and projects.
"As we enter into our busiest selling season, we know our customers are gearing up for spring and planning their lawn & garden projects, and this is the perfect way to provide them with all the information and resources they need in an entertaining way," said Trish Mueller, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for The Home Depot. "‘Lawn & Garden Outlook' takes advantage of The Weather Channel's cross-platform reach and leverages hyper-local customization as only The Weather Channel properties can."
"Our viewers watch The Weather Channel for news and information that helps them shape and plan both their leisure time and their home improvement projects," said Beth Lawrence, Executive Vice President, Ad Sales and Media Solutions for The Weather Channel Companies. "‘Lawn & Garden Outlook' provides desired content for our viewers and users, and a way for The Home Depot to meaningfully engage with their customers."
