Nora Zimmett Joins The Weather Channel as Senior Vice President of Live Programming

ATLANTA -- August 19, 2014 -- The Weather Channel® today announced that Nora Zimmett will be joining the network as senior vice president of live programming. Zimmett joins Weather from CNN and will be responsible for all aspects of the network’s 16 hours of daily live programming. She will be based at the network’s Atlanta headquarters and report to network president David Clark.

“Nora’s vast experience covering important issues makes her the ideal leader for a team  with an editorial mission focused on safety and preparedness as well as science.” said Clark. “She is an amazing journalist and brings with her an understanding of storytelling and how important it is to our network.”

Zimmett will oversee all aspects of Weather’s live programming, including the network’s flagship morning show AMHQ, Weather Center Live and its world-renowned storm coverage. She will be responsible for the overall editorial direction for the network and will work closely with the teams creating editorial content for The Weather Company digital platforms including weather.com.

Zimmett joins Weather from CNN where most recently she served as co-creator and executive producer of both New Day Weekend and Smerconish. Prior to joining CNN, Zimmett held senior producer and producer roles at Bloomberg Television and Fox News Channel. Zimmett is an award-winning journalist with an Emmy for her work on election coverage in 2012.

Zimmett is a graduate of Harvard University and will join the network in mid-September.
