The Weather Channel Honored by PromaxBDA Promotion, Marketing & Design Awards 2017 with Five Awards in Global and North America Competitions and by CableFax for Philanthropic Work

(ATLANTA – June 9, 2017) -- The Weather Channel television network was honored this week with five awards from the 2017 PromaxBDA Promotion, Marketing and Design Awards in their North American and Global design awards competitions across a range of design and marketing categories, and received a CableFax FAXIE award for their non-profit partnership with the American Red Cross.

The Weather Channel earned a gold award from PromaxBDA for their “Live Augmented Reality - Severe” segment in the Global Art Direction & Design: Informational Graphics category. These groundbreaking augmented reality presentations have become a critical part of The Weather Channel’s reporting, helping viewers understand the science and severity of storms as never before.

Additionally, The Weather Channel was awarded a FAXIE for their partnership with American Red Cross for a campaign to raise awareness of the need for blood donations. In 2016, the nation saw an increase in the amount of severe weather, and that had direct impact on the American Red Cross' ability to collect blood and to provide lifesaving resources to communities in need. The multi-month blood campaign focused on mitigating the impacts of lost blood collection due to severe weather blood drive cancellations.

“We are thrilled that PromaxBDA and CableFax recognized the incredible work from our team at The Weather Channel. I am proud of the creativity that that goes into our design work, and commitment to constantly improving graphic elements in our programming,” said David Shull, CEO of The Weather Channel television network. “It’s also an honor to be recognized for our commitment to public service by CableFax. Providing vital information to promote public safety is key to our mission.”
