Today, Cablefax announced its 2018 People to Watch list recognizing the next generation of cable, media and broadband leaders helping to drive the industry toward innovation and greatness amid rapid change. Mike Chesterfield, Director of Weather Presentation and Executive Producer, Weather Geeks, at The Weather Channel, has been honored among the 38 people named to the list this year.
The 2018 People to Watch list is carefully curated by Cablefax, who looks for the rising talent that will become the C-level stars of tomorrow in various fields such as PR/marketing, digital, social, technology, HR, finance, legal, regulatory and beyond, and demonstrate innovative thinking, extraordinary work ethic, passion and drive in their field of work.
As Director of Weather Presentation at The Weather Channel, Mike oversees the network’s day-to-day portrayal of weather forecasts and its world-renowned storm coverage and serves as a Co-Creator and Executive Producer for the network’s podcast, Weather Geeks. He also leads the charge in implementing the network’s latest Immersive Mixed Reality (IMR) technology into weather presentations - such as the viral storm surge and wildfire segments that aired on the network. Since debuting the new IMR technology in June 2018, Mike has been instrumental in developing captivating segments by taking data and turning it into tangible information for viewers through immersive, multi-reality technology and creative storytelling that goes beyond a typical forecast.
“We’re proud that Cablefax recognized Mike Chesterfield as one of their 2018 People to Watch. Mike has played an instrumental role in shaping the way we educate and inform viewers on severe weather events through our IMR technology, and we look forward to bringing his innovative thinking to life in our future segments,” said George Callard, president, The Weather Channel television network.
