One-Hour Special Explores Washington State Mudslide and Aftermath
WHAT: The massive mudslide in Oso, Washington has claimed the lives of at least 21 people to date, with dozens still unaccounted for and more than 100 homes damaged or destroyed. The Weather Channelwill take an in-depth look at the tragedy unfolding in Washington state, not only looking at the science of how it happened, but also revealing the human drama, the sheer magnitude of the event and the impact it has had on the community.
The special will explain the weather conditions and other circumstances that allowed this tragedy to happen. It will also explore the hazardous conditions for first responders, rescue and recovery teams, as well as heartwarming and heroic rescue stories; discuss the devastating impact to residents of the area and aftermath; and what’s next for the people of Oso.
